Accreditation

Public Health Wales Microbiology Division has been awarded UKAS accreditation for compliance with ISO 15189:2012
 
The following local tests are currently outside of our accredited scope due to service improvement projects and are awaiting assessment by UKAS.
 
  1. ASO investigations
  2. Fungal microscopy using Calcufluor White.
  3. Roche cobas 4800 assay in providing secondary confirmation of Neisseria gonorrhoeae isolates
  4. Gram staining using automated Polystainer
  5. Vidas 3 for HBsAg and Anti-HBc
  6. BinaxNOW Legionella Urinary Antigen Card test using automated Alere reader
  7. Molecular investigation of faecal specimens for the detection of common Enteric pathogens.
 
Ongoing assurance of quality in the meantime is maintained by internal and external quality assurance, quality control and training.
